Hi, welcome to my blog again. Embroidery is a creative way of expressing oneself. I love it. This blog of mine is a brief summary about how you can start a basic embroidery.
Here I have done an embroidery of my website name which is craftwithjayasri. So lets start.
Materials_How To Start An Embroidery
- Embroidery hoop- I have used a wooden hoop. You can use any kind of hoop.
- Needle- 2 inch long, small eye, sharp tip.
- Thread- 3 stranded silk thread. You can use any type of embroidery thread.
- Fabric- white cotton fabric which I have washed and ironed before use.
Types of stitches
Here is a brief about the type of stitches I have used to create the embroidery.
- The letters in the below image is done by stem stitch. Its one of the basic embroidery stitch. By this stitch you can a create a thin line or it can also be used to outline embroidered shapes. - The flowers are done by lazy daisy stitch. its a simple loop of thread. It can be arranged in a group to create flower or individually to create a leaf or in a line to create chain stitch. - The leaves are done by fish bone stitch. This stitch is mostly used to do leaves or flower petals. its called fish bone because of the ‘spine’ in the middle. Its called fish bone because of the ‘spine’ in the middle. The smooth look of the stitch and for the spine it looks very elegant.
